Sorry I haven't posted in a while, beloved readers. From the end of Spring through most of the Summer things were pretty calm. I find it hard to get an interesting post together when I'm not being challenged at work, you know?
All of a sudden I find myself very, very busy -- the opposite problem, but now I find I'm too busy to post! Hopefully soon things will get back to a happy medium, and I can get back to regular posting.
These days I'm working on an Ektron site for a major securities broker/dealer. After that's done, I start on an extranet for the same company, as well as 2 other extranets for the Mennonite Mutual Aid association. Interesting projects, all of them.

Nearly-Dr. Ferox posted a call for cute pet photos. Since she's on my blogroll, I guess I should rise to the challenge.
I present you Kaja, destroyer of candy canes

And Mugzie, enjoying her pool on a hot day

Joel Spolsky and Jeff Atwood are my favorite technical bloggers hands down. They write clear, cogent, and frequently amusing posts that really get me thinking. They're so good, and so prominent in the community, that if an interviewee can't talk about their stuff I tend to grade them down. Hell, Jeff and Joel are largely responsible for the existance of this blog.
That's why I'm so glad to hear that they're working together on a new project, called StackOverflow.com. In short, stackoverflow.com will be a free and open community for developers to ask and answer questions. Per Jeff it'll be "sort of like the anti-experts-exchange (minus the nausea-inducing sleaze and quasi-legal search engine gaming) meets wikipedia meets programming reddit." Sounds like a great project, and should be really useful to the developer community.
So far all they have on the site is a podcast talking about the vision. I look forward to seeing what comes down the road.
Hrmm, I wonder if the site will be built "in a proprietary language they created themselves"?

I've been doing a lot of writing at work these days, and it struck me that I'm not very good at it. That troubled me for a number of reasons, but mostly because I used to write fairly well. Is my brain atrophying in my old age? I guess it could be. Furthermore, I evangelize, market, and implement social networking software at my company, Acsys Interactive. It seems pretty silly for someone who advocates blogs as a way to transform business not to have a blog himself.
From what I've read, the only way to get good at writing is to write, and thus my blog is born. I hope to spend my days with you, gentle readers, discussing the world of web development, social networking, content management, and anything else that crosses my mind. If you have any questions, or would like me to focus more on something, please don't hesitate to contact me.
